What about people who ordered the gameonline and it will take a couple of days to be shipped? I have the pre-order key but will most likely only receive the game after the pre-order time expires.

What if my Tyria char is in Cantha when the time expires? I wonder if it will rebirth in Ascalon...

What about items? I could go to Cantha and "plunder" Cantha and come back to Tyria...

What about I make a new necro in Cantha (b/c I like their looks better) and play like crazy and 'ascend' and take the boat to Tyria, do I still get to play after the time expires?

This is the way I saw it as well (you made a bargain). I was corrected by Alex and Gaile's comments though.

The pre-order is not a promise to buy/bargain/contract/guarantee/commitment according to them,officially. That is the reason it took a while for them to explain why they aren't giving the extra slots. Since this is the case, I wouldn't sweat it if you got the pre-order and changed your mind before retail. It came from their mouths (or in the case of forums, their fingers). I'm already committed to buying the retail product after getting the pre-order kit, but you are not committed either morally or legally to doing so. I hope that clears up any confusion.

Remember, though, that you can always buy the retail later on and add it to an account, whereas you can't go back and get a pre-order kit along with its benefits (special pre-order items), so since there's no commitment now it's better to be safe than sorry later.

Sure, why not? People are going to be selling Cantha items to Prophecy only people pretty quick, items can't be limited to Factions.

Again, I don't see why not, although any Faction only skills could be locked out.

You'll just have to deal with it, I guess. This is the case when you purchase any material item online - you have to wait for it to ship to you. This is no different. It's just something you have to accept when ordering such things online. People who turn around and start complaining about the couple days of shipping are kind of silly, I think. Go find a local store.

That said, there are some occasions where the game is shipped to you early so you have it on the day it's "released". I've heard that Gamestop did that for Prophecies, for some people at least. In any case, I wouldn't expect it to happen, or else you'll probably just be disappointed. In fact, if the retailer is free to distribute the game to consumers only after the release date, I'm not sure how they can get away with sending it to them before it. But if it happens, I won't complain. Otherwise, I'll have to wait just like you.

I'm guessing it will be locked, because you don't have access to Cantha. If you're lucky, it will send you back to Ascalon when the time expires. Otherwise, you might be able to email support or something. Nobody really knows though, so just don't leave your character in Cantha?

..and? Everybody with both campaigns can go back and forth and trade items with each other, so even if you don't have Factions you can still get new items, I'm sure. Getting your friend to go get you one of those new collector shields, etc. If your head-start key expires I don't see any items changing. I guess nobody really knows this either, though.

I guess you can find out for us. However, considering that you need Factions to create a character with Canthan-specific looks (can you create one now?), I'm guessing no.

In any case, waiting a couple days to play him again is not going to kill you. If it is, then don't order online!

The main question is how will Anet locks slots: those that have Faction created characters, or those currently in Cantha, or both?

If you are in Cantha when your time expires it sends you to your guild hall. If you dont have a guild hall you go to Ascalon. When the FPE ended my necro was in the 12vs12 area. When I logged on the next day it started loading that area then quickly changed and sent me to my guild's guild hall. I pressed the "leave guild hall" button to see where it sent me and I was sent to Ascalon city.
